Creating a Registration

Users with the “Registration – Add/Edit” permission can create a registration and add students to the registration for the purpose of testing online.

Important: Before you create any registrations, search for pre-populated registrations. DRC will create registrations for WIDA ACCESS Online by using state-submitted Pre-ID data.  Any students added to WIDA AMS via the Student Import file for both WIDA ACCESS Online and WIDA Screener Online will be placed in registrations.

For WIDA ACCESS Online, a student must be placed into a registration for each domain. The exception is grades 1-3.  Students in these grades are not placed into a Writing registration because they take the writing test in a paper test booklet.

For WIDA Screener Online, all domains are administered via a single login and test ticket. Therefore, you create a single registration (containing all four domains) instead of four registrations (one per domain).

You do not need to select a tier for WIDA ACCESS Online or WIDA Screener Online. For more information on tier placement, see Viewing Student Tier Placement.

Important: Students in grades 4-12 who will hand write their Writing responses must be placed into a handwriting registration. This step is not necessary for grades 1-3.

  1. To create a registration, select Test Management from the WIDA AMS My Applications Menu.
  2. Confirm or enter your site criteria in the upper right corner. Click Save

  3. Confirm or select your Registration Window in the drop-down. Make sure to select the correct year.

  4. Select the Create Registration tab or expand the left sidebar menu and select Create Registration.

  5. Enter a Registration Name of your choice. The registration name should be descriptive. For example, you might name the registration by the teacher’s name and classroom period or any other information that appropriately identifies the registration.

  6. Click Select Assessment(s). For WIDA ACCESS, you will select an assessment by grade level and domain. For WIDA Screener Online, you will select the assessment by grade level. Select Add.

  7. Click Select Student(s) to add one or more available students to the registration. To select multiple students, click the checkbox next to each student to add to the registration. Select Add.
    Note: If you have confirmed the student is in WIDA AMS, but you do not see the student in the Available Student(s) window, they are likely already in the maximum number of registrations for this assessment.

  8. Select None or Required for Test Monitoring. Then turn the Restricted Access toggle to On or Off

  9. Click Register.

  10. You will receive a Registration Confirmation message showing the assessment and number of students added to the registration. Click Close.
