Searching for and Editing a Student

WIDA AMS users need the “Participant - Search/View” permission to search students and the "Participant - Add/Edit" permission to edit students. If you are unable to edit a student, please check with your District Test Coordinator or refer to your member/state page on the WIDA website.

  1. To view or edit a student’s information, select Student Management from the WIDA AMS My Applications menu bar.
  2. Click Select a Site … and select your site by searching for your site's name or code. Click Save.
Note: You must select a school to create a new student.
  3. Confirm the correct Academic Session is selected in the Academic Session drop-down.
Note: This will default to the current year.
  4. Select the appropriate testing program from the Testing Program filter.
  5. Select the student you wish to view from the list that populates. You can use the filters to narrow your selection.

Clicking a student's name will take you to the Student detail tab. From there, you can update the student's demographics. If you have questions about acceptable values, please see the WIDA Student Import File Layout for 2025-2026.

Student Details Tab

In this tab, you can update the student’s  demographics. If you have questions around acceptable values, please see the WIDA Student Import File Layout for 2025-2026.

All fields with a red asterisk are required.

Once you have completed your updates, click Save at the top of the screen.

Mode of Administration will allow for a user to edit the mode of administration for ACCESS (e.g., Paper or Online) when creating or editing a student. This is for informational purposes and will not result in changes to material ordering or registrations.

Accommodations Tab

See Editing a Student's Accommodations.

Assessments Tab

In this tab, you can view the online assessments for which the student is registered, the status of the assessments, and the accommodations applied to each assessment.

Note: If the registration status is processing, that means your registration is still being created.
