Working with Locations

In COS, the term location refers to a site within a testing program. For example, a specific school within a state’s testing program.

To edit, add, or remove locations where Testing Devices are registered or to locate the Org Unit ID for the COS ConfigurationA logical grouping of devices, usually consisting of one or more COS - SDs and Testing Devices. A COS Configuration has two primary functions: It allows you to logically group Testing Devices and COS - SDs and it allows you to easily specify the settings for all of the devices in the COS Configuration., select a COS Configuration from the COS DashboardProvides visual status information for all COS Configurations, COS - SDs, and Testing Devices plus links that can be used to manage each COS Configuration, including COS - SDs and Testing Devices. and click Locations to display the Locations page.

  1. This page shows the locations where the Testing Devices are registered. You can copy the Org Unit ID from the Locations page. You use this Org Unit ID when you register a Testing DeviceA device used for student testing that has the DRC INSIGHT software installed on it. A device can be configured to work with one or more COS - SDs and in one or more COS Configuration. with this COS Configuration to test with DRC INSIGHT.

  2. To add a location, select it using the Testing Program drop-down menu and the Site menu (enter three or more letters of the site name) and click Add Site. The Locations page re-displays with the location added and a message displays confirming that the COS Configuration was updated.

  3. To remove a location, click the trash can icon in the Actions column of the location you want to remove and then click Remove Location to confirm the removal.

  4. To edit the  location of a COS ConfigurationA logical grouping of devices, usually consisting of one or more COS - SDs and Testing Devices. A COS Configuration has two primary functions: It allows you to logically group Testing Devices and COS - SDs and it allows you to easily specify the settings for all of the devices in the COS Configuration., click the gear wheel in the Actions column of the location you want to edit. Choose either Service Device or DRC Servers for the Configuration and click Change Configuration.
